This part of Mousehole is a conservation area; Dylan Thomas described the village as 'the loveliest in England'. Mousehole is known for its picturesque harbour and pretty granite fishermans' cottages clustered along narrow lanes. The village has a good selection of gift shops and galleries and, for eating out, there are some well-established and highly rated restaurants.

  • The Minack Threatre
  • St Michael's Mount

The South West Coast Path runs through Mousehole, giving easy access to some stunning, scenic walks towards Lamorna or Marazion.

The BBC drama Poldark was filmed at nearby locations including Porthgwarra Beach, near to Porthcurno, and also at Botallack with Levant Mine acting as the fictional Tressiders Rolling Mill and Owles and Crowns near Botallack featuring as Wheal Leisure.

Golowan Festival and Mazey Day 2017

When: 16-25 June 2017

The annual Golowan Festival celebrations take place in Penzance, culminating in Mazey Day with its vibrant parades and Quay Fair Day's markets and entertainment. Plenty going on for all the family to enjoy including music, parades, street theatre and street markets.

Lafrowda Festival 2017

When: 1-15 July 2017

The Lafrowda Festival is an annual event, taking place in St Just, Penzance. This 2-week long festival celebrates community arts and showcases local artistic, musical and theatrical talent and ends on Lafrowda Day (15th July). The theme for this year's festival is 'Where The Wild Things Are'.
